Photojournalism Projects

This is my portrait project. I highlighted Jesika McDaniel, who started Dreams2Degrees.com. Her goal was to create a free source where underrepresented minority students in high school can learn about the college application process.

This is my sports photography assignment. I had the opportunity to take pictures of the nationally ranked Virginia Tech Club Softball Team. This was the most fun project I did this semester.

This is my hard news assignment. I covered The Reading of the Names that occurs every April. The Virginia Tech chapter of Hillel holds the event and reads the names of the victims of The Holocaust.

Advanced Multimedia Reporting Projects

This is my first package. It was a report on the potential issues students may face with Virginia Tech canceling their traditional spring break next semester. I was tasked to create a package on a newsworthy topic in the area and between 1:10 and 1:20 in length. I was to interview two sources and include three soundbites along with a voiceover.

This is my second package assignment where I reported on an outdoor art exhibit that projected massive images onto the walls of the Moss Arts Center at Virginia Tech. It was also required to include a standup somewhere in the middle of the report to go along with a voiceover. The video was to be between 1:30 and 1:35 in length, and needed two sources and three soundbites minimum.
This is my third package assignment, where I reworked my second package (above) into a mobile-friendly news video that can be viewed with or without audio.

Adobe Creative Cloud Work

I have taken a few design classes in college, but mostly I am self-taught when using Adobe Creative Cloud Programs.

I made this little animation of a black hole forming around a logo I made for a friend.
This is a logo I created using Adobe After Effects for my friend Jon.
This was a little project I did while creating a draft of Jon’s logo. I used a GoPro to capture my keyboard and mouse while I was working in After Effects. This video was edited using Adobe Premier Pro.
Jon was so thrilled with the first logo that he wanted more of them. He asked for rainbow effect which was a new technique I had to teach myself in After Effects.
This project was made in Photoshop. Although I have used Photoshop to make some simple edits on a picture before, I have never build an image from scratch in it until I made this piece honoring my favorite e-sports team, OG Dota.
This was a project I did just for fun. I took the logo from the show Survivor and created an image for Virginia Tech Sigma Nu, featuring the three foundations of the fraternity and Hokie maroon and orange colors.

After seeing my projects for my friend Jon, another streamer who I know asked for his slogan “Inflate my views and my ego” turned into something exciting. He gave me no requirements or any specific themes. This was purely my creative influence.

I created this piece as a computer wallpaper. I wanted it to look like a neon sign against a you would see at a local restaurant in Raleigh named Backyard Bistro that is just across the street from PNC Arena, home to the Carolina Hurricanes.
Much like the Carolina Hurricanes logo, I was going for the same style of look, this time with a fun animation, almost like a graphic you would see on a sports broadcast.
